Role Summary:
The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate a seamless and efficient patient experience by ensuring accurate verification of patient eligibility, securing prior authorizations, and optimizing patient benefits. This position will function as the primary point of contact for patients, facilitating coordination among various departments to ensure that all requisite measures are implemented to address patient requirements, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the healthcare organization.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Employ a range of databases and systems to ascertain patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Engage with patients to acquire any absent or updated insurance information.
- Examine the criteria for medical necessity and the stipulations set forth by insurance providers to ascertain the necessity for prior authorizations.
- Commence and monitor prior authorization requests with insurance providers, ensuring prompt approvals.
- Engage in collaboration with healthcare providers and administrative personnel to collect the requisite clinical documentation essential for substantiating prior authorization requests.
- Instruct patients regarding the specifics of their insurance coverage, encompassing copayments, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
- Assess the advantages afforded to patients and aid in the identification of resources aimed at mitigating financial obstacles to accessing care.
- Collaborate with clinical personnel and relevant departments to guarantee that all requisite arrangements are completed for the scheduled patient appointments.
- Diligently input patient information, insurance particulars, and authorization status into electronic health records (EHR) and billing systems with precision.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of prior authorization requests, including approvals, denials, and appeals, for the purposes of monitoring and reporting.
